Atomization Air Compressor

The PILLER atomizing air compressor is a compact high-pressure unit deployed on GE gas turbines fueled by liquid fuel or dual fuel. It extracts a small quantity of air from the final stage of the gas turbine's main air compressor and raises its pressure to a higher level. This high-pressure air is delivered to the liquid fuel nozzles to ensure more thorough and efficient combustion.
For many years, GE has fitted these turbines with Turbonetics SC-6AA or Atlas Copco SCF-6 compressors. The PILLER A-series compressors have proven to be an ideal alternative, and have successfully replaced more than 50 OEM-supplied units to date.

By modifying the geometry of the impeller and shroud, up to 20 distinct performance characteristics can be achieved. Please refer to the OEM part numbers in the attached list to locate the most commonly used atomizing air compressor.


Direct replacement for GE steam turbine

The PILLER A-series compressors serve as replacements for Turbonetics and Atlas Copco SCF-6 compressors. This is a genuine drop-in replacement for the original unit. Only premium-grade components are adopted. The impeller is made of aerospace-grade precipitation-hardened stainless steel and processed via 5-axis grinding. The gears comply with AGMA (American Gear Manufacturers Association) Q-13 quality standards. The imported shrouds are CNC-machined to match the profile of the impellers.
Both the brand-new A-series atomizing air compressors and PILLER-rebuilt SC-6AA & SCF-6 compressors feature the same precision high-speed tilting-pad journal bearing design, which ensures rotor dynamic stability when the compressor speed exceeds 50100 rpm.
