VapoMaxX

The PILLER VapoMaxX is a high-pressure and high-temperature compressor for steam applications.
This unit integrates the strengths of our high-performance blowers and advanced compressor technology.
With VapoMaxX, PILLER meets demands for high temperature rise and high pressure rise. It is designed for applications with a maximum mass flow rate of 57,000 kg/h, pressure up to 20 bar and temperature up to 215 degrees Celsius.

Leveraging VapoMaxX, PILLER has developed an innovative solution for mechanical vapor recompression (MVR/MVC).


Plug-in rotor unit

To facilitate maintenance and servicing, PILLER adopts a plug-in rotor unit. A movable base carrying all rotating components equipped with a mechanical crank is designed, while steam pipelines remain intact to minimize downtime.


Gearbox

Adopting double helical gear design, the gearbox delivers smooth power transmission and greatly reduces noise. Fitted with gauges for monitoring bearing temperature, vibration and oil flow, it can be integrated into any safety monitoring system. 

Optimized Impeller Design

Our impeller design is continuously optimized. New performance requirements call for customized impeller designs for all VapoMaxX models. Additional tests have been conducted to validate new manufacturing techniques for this upgrade.

Squeeze Film Damper Bearing

To improve bearing rigidity and ensure adequate safety margin of critical speed for reliable operation, or reduce rigidity during supercritical operation, PILLER has developed a solution, namely the squeeze film damper bearing.

Surge Control and Protection

A surge control and adaptive surge protection system is installed for stable, safe and reliable operation. The monitoring system automatically opens the control valve to maintain minimum flow and avoid continuous pump surge.

Multi-stage Series System

The unique geometry and dimensions of VapoMaxX support single and multi-stage installation, maximizing compression ratio and achieving maximum temperature rise respectively.

Optimized Design Based on Flexible Installation Options

PILLER perfectly integrates the strengths of high-performance blowers and advanced compressor technologies into one design, offering highly flexible installation and layout options for single and multi-stage VapoMaxX systems. Systems equipped with one or multiple VapoMaxX units can be mounted on existing platforms even at elevated heights.

Platform-based Installation for Retrofit and New Plant Projects

VapoMaxX is well-suited for brownfield projects and existing plant retrofits. It also saves valuable floor space in new plant construction. PILLER can meet customers' specific requirements for temperature and pressure rise, and tailor system design to actual plant operating conditions.



Shorter Maintenance & Service Time

Despite seemingly difficult access at various installation sites, the design of VapoMaxX and its pull-out rotor unit minimize production downtime. The impeller can be accessed rapidly, eliminating the need for extra cranes or large maintenance crews. Besides, pipelines remain intact, with no leakage tests required after reconnection.
